Get Free Tax Help: From GovGab: "Filing your taxes can be a big challenge, but if you meet certain qualifications, you could be eligible for free help with your tax preparation this year.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) assists people who make less than $49,000 per year and need help filing their taxes. You can get assistance from VITA sites around the country. They tend to be located in community centers, libraries or schools; and volunteers are available to assist you with your filing. Find a location near you.
If you plan to get tax help through this program, you should bring copies of your tax forms including your W2, any 1099 forms and a copy of last year's tax return. You'll also need to bring proof of identification and your Social Security card. Find more recommendations from the IRS on what you should bring to your appointment.
Have you ever used a free tax filing service? "
