TBT From Muskegon, MI
Happy #TBT,
with a photograph showing close-ups of individuals in downtown
Muskegon. Unfortunately no date is listed, though it shows the Francis
Jiroch Cigar Manufacturer as being located on 19 W. Western Ave. (south
side of Western Ave. between Terrace St. and Jefferson St).
As found in a periodical:
"Francis Jiroch is a native of Austria...He came to Muskegon when a
lad, and learned the cigar trade and started business for himself in
1866. He owns his own block, employs a large
number of men and in addition to his being one of the directors of the
Lumbermen's Bank...His leading ten cent brand is the 'F.J.' which has a
large local sale, 'Star' and 'Little Sailor' are his leading five cent
brands."
