Dave Hardin Band
6:00 PM, Monday, December 8

The Hackley Public Library is pleased to announce the next performance in its monthly concert series. This month we are featuring the gifted singer/songwriter, Dave Hardin and his band. The show is set for Monday, December 8, 2014. Dave Hardin's talent perhaps is best described with these words: “His voice is striking – craggy and weathered, just right for the lyrical scenarios of small towns, lonely highways, and rural routes…his songs have an earthy elegance that warms the soul.”- Curtis Ross, Tampa Tribune
Sometimes fueled by real emotion, or a glimpse of everyday events, but always looking for how the story might continue, or sometimes sadly end, his songs are a slice of real life. His voice is instantly recognizable; it gets in your bones and makes you feel part of the story, part of the song. His style of playing is full and rich, notes, chords and percussion all from his guitar.
Dave Hardin is one of those rare talents that comes along and captures you as a fan for life, and sometimes you swear the songs are from your life. They just might be.

To get a taste of the music, check out this clip on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMvJtg3NR9c

Local Author-Steve LeBel
6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 25: Author Steve LeBel
Join us as we welcome local author Steve LeBel, who will talk about his new book, The Universe Builders.
“We have all heard of the fabled perfect being, the Greek God. Well, how about a geek god? Named Bernie, yet. Fresh with his diploma from God School, determined but unsure, bright but without confidence, Bernie faces the challenge of building his own universe. If only it were that easy…
A fascinating tale of good vs. evil and a young hero on a journey of self-discovery in an original, humorous, fantastic wrapper.”
From Amazon reviewers:

“This book is fantasy at its best. Perfect escapism in the world of gods. I've always wondered how our solar system was created, and now I suspect Bernie my have had something to do with it.”

“Steve LeBel has done a wonderful job of bringing together a cast of characters who not only compliment each other, but bring out the reality and life of one another. With a clever writing style and a fascinating story, LeBel offers readers an incredible journey into a universe of originality and intrigue.”

About the author: Businessmen are serious people, right? Not always. Steve LeBel — hospital president, technology entrepreneur, algorithmic stock trader — is definitely not serious.
Not when he writes.
Whimsy overcomes him at the word processor. Whimsy is at the core of his novel, The Universe Builders, which he tells with a unique balance of seriousness, humor, and imagination.
LeBel lives in Muskegon, Michigan with his wife Marge, and Mindy and Dexter, their cats. When not writing, he is busy planning his next trip, cussing out the stock market, doing tech support for friends, or dreaming up new Universe Builder plots.
