Ecclectic Music at HPL

It was an afternoon of music at HPL!

The Whiskey Charmers sure delivered a fantastic performance the other day at Hackley Public Library, bringing a nice mix of several musical genres.
Their music has been described as having Country, Americana, Folk, and Rock influences, which brought a variety of tones to a great crowd.
Some fans have described their music as similar to 'riding through the desert with top down.' On a cold January afternoon, they sure warmed our hearts with intriguing sounds and soul.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out for this inviting program!

TBT From Muskegon, MI

Happy #TBT, with a photograph showing close-ups of individuals in downtown Muskegon. Unfortunately no date is listed, though it shows the Francis Jiroch Cigar Manufacturer as being located on 19 W. Western Ave. (south side of Western Ave. between Terrace St. and Jefferson St).

As found in a periodical:
"Francis Jiroch is a native of Austria...He came to Muskegon when a lad, and learned the cigar trade and started business for himself in 1866. He owns his own block, employs a large number of men and in addition to his being one of the directors of the Lumbermen's Bank...His leading ten cent brand is the 'F.J.' which has a large local sale, 'Star' and 'Little Sailor' are his leading five cent brands."

Sock Snowmen without the Snow!

There might be very little snow outside (hello January!), but that didn't stop us from making cute little snowmen at Hackley Public Library!

Our patrons made adorable snowmen out of socks, beans, buttons and beads! Each snowman has its own unique personality, and the creativity was marvelous!
Thanks to everyone who came out for this fun craft!

Here are some of the pictures taken of the cute snowmen and their makers!
