Are you a high school student that lives in the Nelson neighborhood?
Are you interested in learning how to kayak?
Nelson Neighborhood and the Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership are teaming up to offer an essay contest with the topic What Muskegon Lake Means to Me. Share what it means to live close to Muskegon Lake and imagine how Muskegon will use the lake in the future!
This competition is open to students in grades 9-12 that live in the Nelson Neighborhood.
The first ten entries will receive a free kayaking lesson in 2021.
The First Place essay will receive $100
Second Place will receive $50
Submit an essay no longer than 500 words either in person at Hackley Public Library or via email to askus@hackleylibrary.org with the subject line "Essay Contest".
All entries must be received by 2:00 PM on December 30, 2020 and need to include your name, age, phone number, address, and where you go to school.

Hackley Public Library is temporarily closed, and will reopen Friday, November 20 at 10 am.
Though HPL was not ordered to close, we are doing this as a precautionary measure. The safety of our patrons and staff is of utmost importance.
