Book Bundles at Hackley Library!

Need to purchase some last minute gifts? Our Friends of Hackley Public Library have you covered! 

Stop by HPL and take a peek at the book bundles put together by the Friends. They are bundled by genre, and are at great prices! These bundles can make a nice addition to your own home library, or will make a beautiful gift to someone special. 

HPL will open on Tuesday, December 22 and Wednesday, December 23 from 10-2 pm. Feel free to give us a call with any questions (231-722-8000)!

Mark your calendar to enjoy Ruth & Max Bloomquist virtually in concert!

 Don't miss this talented duo as they perform virtually for Hackley Public Library!


Having a passion for music for over 40 years, Ruth & Max Bloomquist bring a musical presence that everyone will enjoy!

With influences of folk, bluegrass, and country, this duo has created a heart touching acoustic Americana that is all their own. 

This performance will take place virtually at 6 pm on January 25, via Zoom. 

Closer to the date of the event, registrants will receive an email with a Zoom link for the program.  Free.

What Muskegon Lake Means to Me - Essay Contest


Are you a high school student that lives in the Nelson neighborhood?

Are you interested in learning how to kayak?


Nelson Neighborhood and the Muskegon Lake Watershed Partnership are teaming up to offer an essay contest with the topic What Muskegon Lake Means to Me. Share what it means to live close to Muskegon Lake and imagine how Muskegon will use the lake in the future!

This competition is open to students in grades 9-12 that live in the Nelson Neighborhood.

The first ten entries will receive a free kayaking lesson in 2021. 

The First Place essay will receive $100

Second Place will receive $50

Submit an essay no longer than 500 words either in person at Hackley Public Library or via email to askus@hackleylibrary.org with the subject line "Essay Contest".

All entries must be received by 2:00 PM on December 30, 2020 and need to include your name, age, phone number, address, and where you go to school.

Reindeer Hot Chocolate kits available!

Great news!

'Reindeer Hot Chocolate' craft kits are now available to pick up from Hackley Library!
Stop by HPL sometime during open hours (10 am - 2 pm, Mon-Sat) and pick up this tasty Take and Make craft kit.
Supplies are available through December 23, and while supplies last.
