Glory, Valor & Sacrifice; Michigan Sites Significant to the Civil War 6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 11 David Ingall, author of Glory, valor & sacrifice : Michigan sites significant to the Civil War, comes to Hackley Library to talk about his book and to sign copies. The book is “a comprehensive guidebook to Michigan Civil War sites "featuring: landmarks, markers, monuments, buildings, exhibits, forts, graves." Mr. Ingall did some of his research in the Muskegon area. This should be a very interesting talk! Brought to you through the generosity of the PNC Foundation. David is a Michigan native and a past assistant director of the Monroe County Historical Museums. He has done research on the War of 1812, the Civil War, and General George Armstrong Custer.

Tech Wednesday-Hoaxes, Scams, and things that go bump in the night 2:30 pm, Wednesday, December 12 Tech Wednesdays are 30-60 minute long mini watch-and-learn classes on technical topics. They are held in the Julia Hackley Room twice a month at 2:30 pm and are free and open to the public. Feel free to bring your own laptop and follow along.

Good Yarn Knitters 5:30 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 12 Meets in the Julia Hackley Room All levels of knitters are welcome, including beginners. Come to learn how to knit, have a problem solved, or just for camaraderie. If you are just starting out, bring a pair of size 7 or 8 needles and a light colored ball of worsted weight yarn, otherwise bring your latest project or your problem project. Space on library-owned computers is limited to 18 people, with the possibility of two people sharing a machine.; advanced registration is required for each class. Two identical sessions of each class are available: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. De’Ondra Pentecost will be teaching the classes, which will be held in the Julia Hackley Room. Visit from Santa & Build a Graham Cracker House 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 15 --Kids, get your wish list ready for Santa. Santa will visit the library, checking whether kids have been naughty or nice! Parents remember your camera for a great photo opportunity! Then we will have goodies available for you to create your own Graham Cracker House to take with you.
