Caregiving 101

Are you a caregiver or thinking you might be one soon? Come to Hackley Public Library to learn all about caregiving from Katie Klinkner, a licensed Individual and Group Therapist. She will cover physical and emotional self-care, managing stress, family communication and conflict, understanding memory loss and dementia, talking with doctors, legal issues and more.

Space on library-owned computers is limited to 18 people, with the possibility of two people sharing a machine.; advanced registration is required for each class. Two identical sessions of each class are available: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. De’Ondra Pentecost will be teaching the classes, which will be held in the meeting room on the lower level. Call the Library’s main desk at 722-7276 to register. Exploring Shipwrecks with Underwater robotics from the Great Lakes to the Florida Keys and beyond.
6:00 PM Tuesday, February 5: Exploring Shipwrecks with Underwater robotics from the Great Lakes to the Florida Keys and beyond.
The presentation will start with a few videos of Great Lake shipwrecks being explored with robots or ROVs. Then it is off to the Florida Keys for sailing trip on a tall ship. Sailing aboard the sailing ship Denis Sullivan we will explore some shipwrecks in the Florida Keys to Fort Jefferson. Truly a different setting than the Great Lakes. Finally the upcoming expedition to the Pacific island nation of Palau will be covered. This expedition’s mission is to support the search for WWII MIAs that are still missing after 70 years. Museum staff intend to travel to these islands in March to help with the search for MIAs.


Tech Wednesday-Living in the Cloud

Tech Wednesdays are 30-60 minute long mini watch-and-learn classes on technical topics. They are held in the Julia Hackley Room twice a month at 2:30 pm and are free and open to the public. Feel free to bring your own laptop and follow along.
