Adult Summer Reading Program

June 12 - August 24

Rock out and Read this summer at Hackley Public Library! HPL’s “Libraries Rock” Adult Summer Reading program has begun, and will run from June 12 through August 24. Sign up today at HPL, where you will receive a complimentary gift for signing up (complimentary gifts are limited)!
For each library book you read or listen to, your name will be entered into a drawing to win a prize. The more books you read or listen to, the better chances you have for winning!
Everyone who submits at least one entry will automatically be entered into the running for the Grand Prize, which includes four one-day tickets to the Michigan Irish Music Festival and more! We want to extend a huge Thank You to all of our sponsors, who help make our Summer Reading program possible.

Creative Writing at HPL

Do you enjoy creative writing? Are you inspired by innovative thoughts and ideas? Become a part of 'Left to Write', HPL’s own Creative Writing Group! Here you can share your own stories, participate in exercises, and meet other creative writers. This group will provide a low key atmosphere for writers of all experiences. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to tell your friends! Bring your own paper, and your favorite pen! Facilitated by Donna Iverson, this bi-monthly group will be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, 3:30 to 4:30 PM.

Looking for an afternoon of fun out of the hot sun this summer? Enjoy a matinee movie at Hackley Public Library! We will be featuring an exciting new film on the last Saturday of each month. The movie will begin at 12:00pm, and patrons are welcome to bring their own snacks or packed lunch to enjoy. Movies are always fun with friends, so gather together for a day out at HPL! Feel free to call Hackley Public Library or stop in with questions about the movies that are being shown.

Embrace your imagination by painting beautiful "Mandala" designs and lovely ladybugs during our Rock Painting program. Your painted rocks can decorate your home, your garden, or provide as a nice summer gift. This program is free for everyone, and all supplies will be provided!

Summer is the time for pops of color! Join us at HPL for an adult watercolor class, led by Lori McElrath-Eslick, Muskegon artist and children’s book illustrator. Eslick will lead this FREE class in how to paint using watercolors, and participants will create and take home summer-themed artwork!
