Taking urban erotica to dizzying heights and culminating in an earth-shattering climax, Erick S Gray spins a sexually charged, coming of age tale. The drama in "Booty Call *69" revolves around a promiscuous young woman, Shana, who is so seductive she easily captures any man she glances at. After breaking up with the equally self-indulgent boy-toy, Jakim who is too busy hunting for additional sexual pleasures. Shana finds she's rapidly falling for his best friend, Tyrone and ignores Jakim's attempts at reconciliation. A man will do anything when he loves a woman and will try his best to hold on to what he thinks he needs. But does that mean he has to keep going down the road of mistrust? If you love someone set them free and if the love's meant to be then... In a hot remix of his "Booty Call" debut, Erick S Gray shows how unconditional love can be and how grimy trusted friends can get in "Booty Call *69." …More

Blood Is the Sky
Blood Is the Sky

"The best mysteries are about the past coming up out of the ground and grabbing the present by the throat. Steve Hamilton knows this. "Blood is the Sky" fills that bill and then some. This is his best yet." -Michael Connelly, author of "Chasing the Dime"
"Winning the Edgar Award for "A Cold Day in Paradise," Steve Hamilton introduced one of the most compelling characters in modern fiction: Alex McKnight, a gritty ex-Detroit cop who can't say no to a friend in need-no matter the cost. Now McKnight finds himself in the forests of northern Ontario, a land of savage beauty and sudden danger, where some secrets just won't stay buried."
Alex McKnight isn't a man with many friends, but the few he has know they're never alone in a fix. So when Vinnie LeBlanc asks for his help in taking a trip deep into Canada in search of his missing brother, the Ojibwa Indian knows he can count on Alex. Tom LeBlanc had taken a job as hunting guide for a rough crew of Detroit "businessmen." The group was due back days ago, yet there's been no sign of them, and there's mounting evidence of something odd about their disappearing act. The trackless forests of northern Ontario keep many secrets, but none more shocking than the one that Alex is about to uncover. And the more closely Alex looks for answers, the more the questions become: where are the hunters...and who is the prey?
"Overflows with an element lacking from too many mysteries: a genuine sense of mystery..."Blood "boldly crosses genre boundaries as it turns into a thrilling outdoor adventure, then a heartfelt small town tragedy. All along, Hamilton's prose...remains an unselfconsciously terse pleasure." -"Entertainment Weekly"

HPL patron:  Private investigator Alex McNight helps his friend vinnie search for his brother who went off to Northern Ontario to act as a moose hunting guide for five strangers from Detroit.  None of them ever returned.  During the course of this mystery Alex meets a beautiful police officer named Natalie Reynaud.  I'm sorry I read this book out of sequence because I know what happens next.  I got this through interlibrary loan and wish Hackley would buy more Steve Hamilton!

2011 Alex Award Winner

Award-winning author Hamilton returns with a captivating new thriller about a young man with the talent to become the perfect criminal--whether he likes itor not.
HPL patron:  The title character is driven by two talents:  as a budding cartoonist and as a teen Houdini who can unlock anything.  But he was struck silent by a mystery in his childhood and hasn't been able to speak a single word for the past nine years.  I read this in 24 hours, fascinated and awed by the mastery of the writing and cycling time the chapters alternate two times in the boy's life-the whole flashback comes full circle finally even dipping into the dark trauma in his past.  Wow!
