WRITE FOR FRIGHT! SCARY STORY CONTEST OCTOBER 1 - OCTOBER 31 Enter "Write for Fright!", Hackley Public Library's annual scary story contest. Bring your stories and poems to the Library by 5 PM, October 31, 2013. (Contest flyers & details are available in the Children's Department.) The contest is open to students in Grades K - 6. The scariest tales will be printed in our "Write for Fright!" book. Winners are honored at an Author's Night Award Program at the Library on Monday, November 11, 2013, beginning at 6:30 PM.

AFTER SCHOOL ART TUESDAY Tuesday, October 1, 2013 Join us any time between 3:30 - 6:00 pm after school to enjoy some art. There will be several self-led craft projects to try, with supplies available, so you can let your creative ideas flow.

AFTER SCHOOL LEGO WEDNESDAY Wednesday, October 2, 2013 Join us 3:30 - 4:30 pm to relax and build fun LEGO creations after a hard day at school. (Remember the Library closes at 5 pm on Wednesdays.)

HPL YOUTH SERVICES FALL STORYTIME FOR AGES 3 - 7 PLEASE NOTE NEW DAY AND TIME: 1:00 PM Saturday, October 5 Registration is required. To signup, call 722-7276, ext. 230 Storytelling, picture books, fingerplays, holiday tales, and special fun. Each session ends with a craft project.

KIDS AND PETS 2:00 PM Saturday, October 12, 2013 Are you trying to talk Mom into getting a puppy? Maybe if you know how to care for the puppy Mom will take you seriously. Kids, join us and the Michigan Humane Society in our Pet Care Program and learn the basics of caring for our furry friends.
