Book Review-A Change in Altitude

Over the years I've discovered some really great authors and now look forward to their new books.  I've read most, if not all, of Anita Shreve's books, so I was really looking forward to her latest, "A Change in Altitude" .

The book takes place in Africa, which is as much a character in the book as the people are.  Even the climate has an impact on the story.  Basically, the novel examines a year or so in the life of newlyweds Margaret and Patrick and how they cope with Africa in general, and a horrific accident in particular.  The book looks at how Americans, who are used to openness in governement and the press, deal with the politics of a foreign country; how a couple works through love and forgiveness; how individuals cope with sudden death  and temptation.  The writing is beautiful.  A  very good book.
