	Pumpkin Painting and Halloween Magic Saturday, October 23 2:00 PM Bring a pumpkin  (or strange-shaped gourd!)  to this family event. “Clyde the Magician” will start things off with spooky magic.   Then we’ll paint and decorate to create amazing No-Carve Jack o’ Lanterns.     Please call the Youth Services Department at 231-722-7276 x 230.

Scrabble FUNdraiser Saturday, October 23 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Register for the “Second Annual Read Muskegon Scrabble® FUNdraiser” to be held at the Muskegon Masonic Temple on Saturday, Oct. 23, 7:00-10:00 p.m. The event is cosponsored by Hackley Public Library and Muskegon Area District Libraries and benefits “Read Muskegon” adult literacy program providing free literacy tutoring in Muskegon County. The fee for individual participants is $25.00, or $100.00 for teams of 2-4 players. Amateur or serious players welcome. Food, fun and prizes! The deadline to register is Oct. 15. 	Getting the most from your point and shoot camera Tuesday, October 26. 6:00 pm   Paul Petersen, president of the Westshore Camera Club and owner of Petersen Photography, will teach a class on point and shoot cameras. This class is geared for beginner level photographers. 	Not –Too -Scary Storytime Saturday, October 30 2:00 PM Young children 3 – 6 will have a Boo-tiful time at this Halloween story hour.   The picture books, songs and activities will bring laughs, not shivers.     Holiday treats and a Black Cat Craft will complete the fun. Dessert Contest Saturday, November 6 2:00 pm Cakes, cobblers, pies, puddings, and more!  The contest is open to kids and teens with a favorite dessert to share.   Elizabeth Folke, Bakery and Pastry instructor at the Culinary Institute of MIchigan will be the celebrity judge.  She'll pick the overall "Best Dessert."  The top chef wins $25, with two $15 Runner Up Awards.
