How to Write a Mystery
with Teen Author Jennifer Allison
2 PM Saturday October 15

Jennifer Allison’s interactive workshop will show middle-schoolers how to create plot and characters for their own mysteries. Learn to fill your stories with surprising plot twists and fascinating people. Bring paper, pencil and your ideas!

Jennifer Allison is author of the “Gilda Joyce, Psychic Investigator “ series. Her latest thriller is “Bones of the Holy.” A book sale and autographing will follow the workshop.

Registration required. The workshop is for grades 5 – 9.

How to keep your diabetic feet healthy.
Attention People with Diabetes! Do you suffer from foot pain, burning feet and sore spots associated with diabetes? Attend Healthy Steps, a free educational program brought to you by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and Great Lakes Medical Supply (GLMS).
Healthy Steps is a free one-hour class designed to provide basic education about proper diabetes foot care. This course is conducted by a certified pedorthist and will help educate you on how to correctly care for your feet, covering topics such as diabetes-related foot complications, exercise, proper foot care, neuropathy and therapeutic footwear options. Free program.

Beekman 1802 Heirloom Recipe Contest

Hackley Public Library is a participating library in the Beekman 1802 Heirloom Recipe Contest!

Enter for a chance to win an all expense-paid trip to meet Discovery Planet-Green reality TV stars the Fabulous Beekman Boys in Sharon Springs, NY, take a tour of the Beekman 1802 Farm, and have dinner with Josh and Brent!
Here’s how it works: Fill out the entry form with your favorite family heirloom recipe and tell us what makes the recipe so special to you, then bring it, along with the prepared dish to a taste testing party! The party will be on October 29 at 2:00pm in the Julia Hackley Room. Attendees will taste the entries and vote for their favorite. The winning recipe will be entered for a chance to win a signed copy of The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbookand the grand prize trip, farm tour, and dinner.
