Book Review-Pax

photoWhen I read book reviews I often catch a glimpse of the children's books as well.  Last month one caught my eye, I know-never judge a book by its cover-but this one looked intriquing (and I've actually had good luck with books and covers!)
Pax is the story of a boy and his pet fox.  Peter's father has joined the army so Peter has to go live with his grandfather.  His father decides that Pax, the fox, can not go to the grandfather's so Peter must set Pax free.  Peter is very worried that Pax will survive in the wild: he found Pax when he was a newborn kit.  The story is told from both Pax's and Peter's points of view.
I was entirely taken by this book.  Themes of love, abandonment, self discovery, interpersonal relationships make the book interesting at many levels.  The writing was wonderful, too.  I hated putting the book down.  Even though it is a book aimed at children, adults will also enjoy it.
